Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app (watchOS 10 or later) is a companion to the iPhone app: start and stop recording, glance at findings, and switch areas without pulling out your phone. There is nothing to set up — no sign-in on the watch. It automatically mirrors whatever inspection area is open on your iPhone.

Swipe vertically to move between up to three pages:

• Record — always available; the main screen with the mic button.
• Findings — the current area’s findings; appears while an area is active on the phone.
• Areas — every area and its status; also appears while an area is active.

New findings show as an orange badge on the Record screen; swiping down to the Findings page clears it.

1. 1Tap the large mic button to start recording for the active area. The elapsed time shows while you talk.
2. 2Describe what you see, just like recording on the phone.
3. 3Tap again to stop. The audio is handed to your phone, and the AI turns it into findings in the area that was active when you recorded — even if the phone has moved on in the meantime, as long as that area is still stored on the phone.
4. 4Each new finding pops a 5-second toast on the watch — red for a Problem, green for Serviceable — showing the finding title. The findings also appear live on the phone’s area screen.

Browse the current area’s findings grouped by severity — Problems first, then Serviceable items. The list is read-only: it is a glanceable summary, and the toast that appears when a finding is created is the way to open its detail view.

The Areas page shows every area with its completion status, with the current area highlighted — and it is also a remote control: tap any area to switch the phone to it. The phone’s area screen animates over, and the watch header, findings list, and recording target follow. If the phone is momentarily unreachable, the switch is queued and applied when it reconnects.

The watch can tap your wrist as things happen, so you can keep your eyes on the property. Configure it on the phone under Settings → Apple Watch: a master toggle, per-event toggles, and an “Only Problems” filter.

• Out of the box you feel a tap when the AI logs a Problem finding. Serviceable findings are filtered out by the default “Only Problems” setting.
• Recording start/stop haptics are off by default — enable them in Settings → Apple Watch if you want a tap when recording begins and ends.

You can add a PadInspector complication to your watch face (circular, corner, inline, and rectangular styles) as a one-tap launcher for the watch app. It does not show live data — it is purely a shortcut.

• Watch recordings need the phone online. The phone sends watch audio to the server for processing; with no internet connection the watch shows a “Phone is offline” message and the recording is not turned into findings — re-record it once the phone is back online. When you are somewhere with no signal, record on the phone instead: its on-device pipeline is offline-first.
• Brief phone dropouts are fine. If the watch loses contact with the phone mid-recording, the finished recording is queued and delivered when they reconnect. Starting a new recording still requires the phone to have an area open.
• No notifications outside the app. Finding toasts and haptics only appear while the watch app is on screen — there are no push notifications.
